Root Word Quizlet - First Dry iOS app.

Fresh out of clever juice, I got the idea to make a quiz for kids.  My friend's kids in Frisco ISD (school district in Frisco, Texas) have to learn this material at the 7th-grade level.  I'd never made any games on the iOS platform, so I figured this would be a good start.  I'm working on re-writing some of the content within the game.

Here's a little backstory for my readers.  On my bucket list were two things:  starting my own business and becoming an Apple iOS developer.  I'm not an "all or nothing" competitive person.  I do like to stretch myself.  It wasn't important to me whether or not the dollars came rolling in.  Developing on the Apple iOS platform and submitting the game through iTunes was quite a long, multi-step process.  I'm told many developers "give up" as they get metadata errors, compliance hiccups, or binary errors.  Luckily for me, after 8 hours of development time, with much pain uploading using the Application Loader, I successfully uploaded a binary file to the iTunes store.

Knowing nothing about actually how to market any product, much less an iOS native App, I had to start somewhere.  I hired a company to do a little work for me.  The review contained all of the feedback and read pithily.  The written content in the review provided valid points.  I thought they would just give me the feedback and the two stars.  I guess bad press is still press, right?  My feelings weren't hurt.  The review gave me an idea of what educational apps are looking for as far as award-winning content.

I learned that I had to be interested in the every component of an App package.  That entire package includes: writing content, making sure the content in the game is top notch, cleaning up your graphics, etc.  This first review gave me an idea for Rubric or a standard for all future games.

The information is below:

An App designed to give kids (and adults) a game platform to test their knowledge of Greek and Latin roots.  There are over 400 roots in the app. The quiz prompt is formulated into a sentence.  Each root give an example of an English word, cites whether the word is Latin or Greek and provides the the root.

The Quiz then asks the meaning of the root word based on the information given.
